Witkofsky, Gulls surge past Wentworth

BOSTON, Mass. - Junior A.J. Witkofsky (Scotia, N.Y.) had 21 kills on 29 attempts, committing just one error as the Gulls swept host Wentworth Institute of Technology, 30-25, 30-21, 30-20 on Tuesday evening in Boston, Mass. The win keeps the Gulls unbeaten in NECVA New England play (7-0) and ups their overall record to 8-5.
Witkofsky swung at an unreal .690 clip in the three-game sweep. Junior Ben Foster (Penfield, N.Y.) tallied 39 assists and five digs, while senior Dan Coleman (Millis, Mass.) had 14 digs in the win. The Gulls had a total of six team blocks in the win, and posted a .355 hitting percentage on the night.
The Gulls return to action on Thursday evening as the Blue and Green head to New Haven, Conn. to meet the University of New Haven in a non-conference match-up. The Gulls then return home for a Valentine's weekend tournament where they will face NJCU, Hunter, SUNY IT and Ramapo over the course of the two days.
