Career-High for Endicott's Seaver in Straight-Set Win over Elms

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team joined Daniel Webster atop the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) standings with a perfect 4-0 record in-conference after the Gulls handed Elms a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-21) loss on Saturday afternoon. Endicott held Elms to just a .024 hitting percentage as a result of 10 team blocks including six from senior middle Travis Netherton (Waukegan, Ill.).

Endicott's (8-3, 4-0 NECC) offensive attack was led by 6-2, sophomore outside Dan Seaver (Milford, Mass.) who struck a career-high 10 kills on 25 attempts (.280). Seaver eclipsed his previous-best of seven kill set back on February 1^st of this year, in a straight-set victory over Daniel Webster in the team's non-conference season opener. Seaver also helped Endicott's defensive efforts with career-highs of six digs and three blocks.

The Gulls have one more match until their annual Endicott Invitational. They will visit Southern Vermont for NECC action on Tuesday, March 4^th at 7:00 pm. Endicott is 13-0 against Southern Vermont dating back to their first meeting with the Mountaineers in 2007. Their last match against Southern Vermont was in the semifinal round of last year's NECC Tournament when the Blue and Green won 25-21, 25-18, 25-17 en route to their first NECC title. The Blue and Green have won seven of their last eight matches with their slip coming at home against Wentworth in five sets.

Elms (4-10, 2-2 NECC) saw senior outside hitter Bryan Rainey (Brookline, Mass.) amass a match-highs with 13 kills and 11 digs with junior middle Angel Castro (Carolina, Puerto Rico) adding six kills, but the Blazers dropped their second conference match of the season. Elms visits Lasell on Tuesday, March 4^th for a 7:00 pm start.

Supplementing Seaver's attacking game was senior right side Josh Anderson (La Canada, Calif.) and Netherton who each totaled eight kills in the win. Sophomores Daniel Toth (Vernon, N.J.) and Alex Wasik (Milford, Mass.) came on in the third set to contribute with three and two kills, respectively.

Endicott's senior setter Carter Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) continued to average at least 10 assists per set by dishing out 30 in Saturday's win. Roche also factored Endicott's blocking game with three assist blocks.

Elms got 23 assists from senior setter Kevin Welsh (Wilbraham, Mass.) who tied with Castro and freshman libero Ian Isgut (San Juan, Puerto Rico) with four digs apiece. Welsh and senior outside Kordel Latimer (Lynn, Mass.) both had a solo and assisted block in the match.
