BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's volleyball team defeated Vermont State Johnson (3-0) and Wheaton (3-0) on Saturday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium.
ENDICOTT 3, VERMONT STATE JOHNSON 0 (25-8, 25-17, 25-19)
Jackson Gray (Glenmont, N.Y.) tallied a match-high five kills on six swings (.667) to lead an attack that featured 15 student-athletes with at least one putaway.
Tyler Dolan (Harrington Park, N.J.), Anderson Piller (Simsbury, Conn.), and Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) also contributed four kills each in the victory.
Matty Tiernan (Bradford, R.I.) ran the offense, which hit .304, via 29 assists on 59 attempts (.492).
Match one of the day only featured six ties (2-2-2) and four lead changes (1-1-2).
ENDICOTT 3, WHEATON 0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-17)
Iacovelli registered a match-high 18 kills on 31 total attacks (.484) to pace the Gulls who hit .315 as a team in the three-set victory.
Jake Laborde added nine kills of his own to go along with an assist, two service aces and 10 digs, while Gray tallied five kills and two aces. Tiernan set things up offensively throughout with 35 assists as he surpassed 30 or more assists for the sixth time this season.
Endicott notched seven total blocks in the match and Dan Battista recorded 13 digs.
The Gulls led wire-to-wire throughout the first and third sets en route to the sweep.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- The Gulls are 8-0 all-time against Vermont State Johnson (all sweeps).
- Today's match was the second-ever meeting versus Wheaton (2-0).
- Endicott is 6-0 at MacDonald Gymnasium this season.
- The Gulls have won 15 straight matches overall.
- Iacovelli recorded double-digit kills for the 12th time this season.
