Battista & Iacovelli Earn AVCA All-Region Honors
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's volleyball student-athletes Dan Battista (Bethlehem, N.Y.) and Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) have all earned American Volleyball Coaches Organization (AVCA) Region I All-Region honors.
This is just the second time in program history that the Gulls have had multiple student-athletes named to the All-Region I team (2020).
Battista and Iacovelli are two of 14 student-athletes selected to the AVCA Region I All-Region Team. The region is comprised of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNY), Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), NEVC, and Skyline, as well as Springfield from the Independent Pool.
With today's announcement, both Battista and Iacovelli are now eligible for AVCA All-America honors, which will be released on Monday, April 21.

Battista, the New England Volleyball Conference (NEVC) Defensive Player of the Year, has earned All-Region I honors for the first time in his career.
The junior is now the third libero in program history to earn All-Region honors, joining Dan Coleman '09 and Andrew Slocum '12.
The Bethlehem, N.Y. native averaged 4.33 digs per set (26 total) during the NEVC Tournament along with being a perfect 37-37 in serve receive.
Battista is now tied for fifth in program history for most digs in a single season and fourth in digs per set (3.71). Nationally, he ranks second in digs per set and also has helped hold opponents to a .181 hitting percentage, which ranks 29th across Division III.
His individual highlights this season featured a career-high 22 digs in a four-set victory over SUNY Potsdam on 3/21. He has reached the 20 dig mark four times this season including most recently in the NEVC Championship match against Nichols

Iacovelli, now a two-time AVCA All-Region I selection, has posted 3.93 kills per set, a .328 hitting percentage (338K-96E-737TA), 19 service aces, 143 digs (1.66), 27 total blocks (4 solo, 23 assisted), and 369.5 points (4.3 points per set) in 25 matches played (86 sets).
The senior joins Gabe Felicetti '21 as the only two student-athletes in program history to be named to the All-Region team twice in their careers.
During the NEVC tournament this past weekend, Iacovelli led the Gulls with 31 kills (5.17 k/s), along with a .397 hitting percentage, seven digs, seven block assists, and was 39-41 in serve receive.
In the Endicott record books, Iacovelli is ranked No. 6 in kills (910), No. 4 in kills per set (3.47), No. 7 in hitting percentage (.307), No. 9 in points (984.0), and No. 6 in points per set (3.8).
