Endicott Men Finish Fourth at Bowdoin Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine- Looking to continue their strong start to the season, the Endicott men's cross country team did just that, finishing fourth out of 10 teams at the Bowdoin Invitational.  The Gulls finished behind Colby, Bowdoin and Southern Maine on the 8k course, with a team score of 135 in the 138 runner field. 

Endicott was led by the duo of Zach Marshall (Hinesburg, Vt.) and James Dwyer (Berlin, Conn.), as both posted top-30 finishes. For Marshall, his 18th place finish in a time of 27:11.1 was a season best and second best 8k time of his career, while Dwyer's time of 27:53.1 placed him 28th overall and shatttered his previous personal best.

Freshmen Patrick Finocchiaro (Salem, N.H.) and Austin Landry (Readfield, Maine) continued their impressive starts to their careers.  Finocchiaro finished 35th in a time of 28:07.1, besting his personal record he set last week at the UNE Invitational by over a minute and a half, while Landry's time of 28:22.2 helped him finish 42nd as he beat last week's time by 26 seconds.

Junior Noah Mondello (Gloucester, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for Endicott as he finished in 65th place with a time of 29:55.9.

INSIDE THE TIMES

• Marshall led the Gulls yet again, marking the tenth consecutive race he has done so as a member of the Endicott men's cross country team. 
• The Gulls saw eight of their 12 runners post new personal records on the 8k course.
• For Dwyer, his time of 27:53.1 set a new personal record by over two minutes that he set just last week at the UNE Invitational.

Head coach Spencer Lange was extremely proud of the men after their strong showing in such a talented field.  "We had 8 out of the 12 guys runs a PR," said the first year coach. "They've been working hard and adjusting well to the training and competition levels. Most of the freshman ran significantly faster than their first 8k at UNE. Zach did a great job putting himself in a strong position at the beginning of the race to setup for a big PR. James Dwyer ran his best race in an Endicott uniform, he showed a lot of confidence stepping up against stronger competition. Overall there's still a lot of work to be done but we are in a good spot right now."
