HAMILTON, Mass. - The Endicott men's cross country team placed first overall out of four teams on Saturday morning in the Endicott Invitational, hosted at Bradley Palmer State Park.

Endicott finished with a final score of 27 points, while Emmanuel (35 points), Emerson (86 points), and a Gulls' Alumni team (88) followed in that order.

For Endicott, Joshua Knight (Oxted, England) led the way covering the 8-kilometer course in a winning time of 29:00. Adam Germaine (Guilford, Conn.) and Will Connelly (Barrington, R.I.) were not far behind as the duo ranked fourth (29:43) and fifth (29:59), respectively.

Meanwhile, Marcus Poccia (West Greenwich, R.I.) and Jack McGuire (Hopkinton, Mass.) rounded out the Gulls' top-5 in eighth place (30:32) and ninth place (31:14).

"I was excited for the team to be able to race on a new home course. They did a great job representing out there and raced hard." Said Endicott women's cross country coach Spencer Lange. "The group running has continued to be a trend and we are hoping they can continue to improve over the coming weeks. We are excited for the next few weeks of training before we head back to Gordon for the conference championship preview meet. I was impressed with how they fought for spots over the last few miles today as they trusted their fitness."

  • All of Endicott's runners finished within the top-20.
  • Zachary Heffernan (Biddeford, Maine) was 13th overall (32:23), Tyler Thornton (Reading, Mass.) secured 14th place (32:42), Samuel Page (Plainville, Mass.) crossed the line in 15th place (33:03), and Brendan Golding (Pine Bush, N.Y.) finished in 16th (33:13).
  • Today marked the debut of the Endicott Invitational race at Bradley Palmer State Park.

The team will travel to Wenham, Mass. on September 22 at 11:30 AM for the Pop Crowell Invitational.
