Gulls Pick Up a Pair of CCC Wins

BOSTON, MA - The Endicott College softball team got back on the winning track Sunday afternoon as the Gulls swept a CCC double-header against the Wentworth Institute of Technology, 10-0 and 17-0.
EC jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, scoring a run in the first then following it up with four runs in the second and five in the third inning to take the 10-0 win.
Robyn Savitske (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) picked up her seventh win of the year allowing just one hit over three innings while striking out four. Maria Mangine (Lockport, NY/Lockport) came out of the bullpen to pitch two perfect innings of relief.
The Gulls offense was led by freshman Jenna Lazar (Milton, MA/Milton) who went two-for-two with two runs scored and two RBI, she also worked two walks. Paula McGinn (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) also had a great game going two-for-three with an RBI and two runs scored. Jackie Collier (Swampscott, MA/Bishop Fenwick), who has been a star on the mound for the Gulls, chipped in with two hits, two runs scored and two RBI.
The blue and green took the second game of the twin bill in similar fashion with a 17-0 win. EC once again took an early lead with a run in the first inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from Meghan Sargent (Salisbury, MA/Triton) that drove in McGinn. The Gulls then blew the game open in the second with six runs before adding five runs in the third and fourth to seal the win.
Meghan Sargent was once again a force for the Gulls offense as she had a monster game at the plate going two-for-two with three runs scored and six RBI, she also hit a third inning grand slam bringing in four runs. Clean-up hitter Rachel Pearson (Gales Ferry, CT/Ledyard) also had big game going three-for-four with a run scored and five RBI.
Jackie Collier pitched three innings out of the bullpen to pick up her sixth win of the year. Collier allowed just one hit while shutting out the Leopards and striking out four batters. Jenn Elwell (Tewksbury, MA/Shawsheen Tech) got the start and pitched two perfect innings, striking out five.
Endicott College improves to 23-7 overall and 16-2 in the CCC with the wins. The Gulls return to action Monday afternoon when they host Babson College in a non-conference match up at 4:00 pm in Beverly.
