Gulls salvage a split in Rebel Games finale

Kissimmee, Fla. – Framingham St. rallied to defeat the Endicott softball team 3-2 on Thursday afternoon before the Gulls responded with a 3-0 win over Anderson to salvage a 1-1 day in the finale of the Rebel Spring games. The Blue and Green return home at 6-4 overall as they prepare for their first conference game of the season at Anna Maria on March 23.

Senior Hayley Hovhanessian’s (Farmington, Conn.) first inning single scored Jocelyn Russo (Middletown, Conn.) from second base to give the Gulls an early 1-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth, fellow senior Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) singled down the left field line to drive in Nicole Devlin (Dudley, Mass.) to double the advantage.
Framingham St. responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to level the game at two before adding the game winner in the fifth.
Senior pitcher Jenna Bortolotti (Milton, Mass.) went six innings, giving up three runs and five hits while striking out one in the loss.

Game Two Boxscore
Kayla Carignan (Laconia, N.H.) threw seven shutout innings to help the Gulls conclude their Florida trip with a win. Carignan improved to 2-0 on the season.
Colleen Martin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) led off the second inning with a single before stealing second and advancing to third on a passed ball. Byrne Katz (Trumbull, Conn.) singled to score Martin and give the Blue and Green an early 1-0 lead.
Freshman Danielle LaRocque (Averill Park, N.Y.), who walked earlier in the inning, advanced to third on the single by Katz and was later sent home by an RBI single from freshman Mattie Brett (Waterford, Conn.). Both runs would prove to be more than enough for Carignan to deliver the win.
Jennie Lacolla (Stoneham, Mass.) added a late insurance run with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to score Brett.
