Lacolla and Carignan win TCCC softball weekly awards

Springfield, Mass. - After another undefeated (4-0) week for the Endicott softball team, freshman Jennie Lacolla (Stoneham, Mass.) and sophomore Kayla Carignan (Laconia, N.H.) earned accolades from the TCCC for their leadership on the field.
PLAYER AND ROOKIE OF THE WEEK—Endicott College’s freshman standout first baseman Jennie Lacolla had a phenomenal individual week batting .643 (9-for-14), with a slugging percentage of 1.357, and an impressive on-base percentage of 69%. She hit safely in all four games, with three of them being multi-hit games, including one double, and three homeruns. Lacolla helped the Gulls sweep Eastern Nazarene and University of New England in a pair of twinbill conference matchups last week. In an 11-1 victory over Eastern Nazarene she had a perfect 4-for-4 at showing at the plate, drove in an RBI, and crossed the plate three times. Lacolla proved to be a key player in the double-header outing against University of New England, hitting a homerun in each contest.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK—Endicott College’s sophomore Kayla Carignan enjoyed a weekly ERA of 0.84 over 8.1 innings pitched. In an 11-1 victory over Eastern Nazarene she pitched a complete five-inning game, allowing only seven hits, one earned run, and fanning four to earn the victory. Carignan pitched 3.1 innings of relief to earn the win 8-4 over University of New England, allowing only six hits, no runs, and striking out two.
