Wright, Bortolotti, & Brett earn conference honors

Springfield, Mass. - A trio of Endicott softball players were recognized by The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) after leading the Blue and Green to its ninth straight conference championship.
Senior center fielder Ashley Wright(Merrimack, N.H.) anchored the Gulls offense to post a 3-0 TCCC Championship Tournament record, batting .750 (6-for-8) with a 1.125 slugging percentage and an .800 on-base percentage. She batted safely in all three tournament contests, collected two multiple-hit games, while driving in five runs with six hits, including two doubles, and drew two walks. In the TCCC Championship game against Western New England, she scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth to break the tie and gave the Gulls a 3-2 lead before the hosts added four more runs to pull ahead 7-2.
Senior pitcher Jenna Bortolotti(Milton, Mass.) went the distance last week in three complete games during the TCCC Tournament to set the Gulls’ program record for career wins with 63. In 17.0 innings of work, Bortolotti posted an ERA of 2.06, allowing 14 hits, five earned runs, and three walks, while fanning four to help lead her team to its ninth consecutive TCCC Championship title.
Freshman shortstop Mattie Brett (Waterford, Conn.) was a key component as the Gulls advanced to their ninth straight TCCC title, batting .556 (5-for-9) with a slugging percentage of .778 and on-base percentage of .600. She hit safely in two of three games with two doubles and eight RBI. Brett also crossed the plate three times herself and was a factor in 11 of the Gulls’ 36 runs in the 2011 TCCC Softball Tournament.
