Endicott softball gets six nods on All-CCC Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Six Endicott softball players, including four first-time winners, were named to the All-CCC Team as it was announced today by league commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.
Sophomores Kelley Michael (Ipswich, Mass.) and Alexandra Moise (North Reading, Mass.) earned postseason honors for the first time by being named a First Team honoree. Michael, a shortstop, led Endicott in batting average (.384) and runs batted in (22) this spring. Nine of 33 hits went for extra bases with seven doubles and two homeruns. Michael sported a .471 on-base percentage and a .535 slugging percentage, while displaying a strong defensive presence at short.
In her second season patrolling the outfield, and her first in centerfield for the Gulls, Moise batted .349 with 23 runs, 16 RBI, 16 walks and a team-high 10 stolen bases. She joined Michael as the only All-CCC First Teamers from Endicott. Moise had nine extra-base hits, seven doubles, a triple and a homerun.
Juniors Jocelyn Russo (Middletown, Conn.) and Byrne Katz (Trumbull, Conn.) as well as sophomore Jesse Bilafer (Concord, Mass.) all represented the Blue and Green on the All-CCC Second Team. Russo batted leadoff and manned the hot corner for the Gulls this spring, batting .322 with a team-high 37 hits (10 or extra bases), 28 runs, 12 RBI, 12 walks, and four stolen bases. Russo committed just two errors (.977 fielding percentage) while starting at 36 games. In the outfield, Katz had a career year with 21 RBI and 16 runs with a .302 batting average. She cracked three homeruns in her junior season. Batting in the two-spot and playing second base, Bilafer batted finished the regular season second on the team in hits (36), 10 for extra bases, and had a .340 batting average. Bilafer led the team in sacrifice bunts (14) and also ran well on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
Junior designated player Colleen Martin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) earned her first All-CCC nod by being named to the Honorable Mention team after batting .347 with 15 RBI and 13 runs scored. She led the team with a .631 slugging percentage as she totaled a team-high five homeruns and five doubles. Martin also swiped five bags.
The Gulls earned the \#2 seed in the CCC Tournament and will host two games at the start of the double elimination portion of the tournament on Monday. At 2:30 pm, \#3 University of New England takes on \#6 Western New England. The Gulls plays the winner of that game shortly thereafter.
