CCC TOURNAMENT: Softball Goes 2-0 On Opening Day

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott softball team defeated Roger Williams (7-0) and Wentworth (7-1) on the opening day of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament. The Gulls now head into Friday's schedule as the only undefeated team in the "Bracket A" field.

GAME ONE: Endicott 7, Roger Williams 0

WP (15-4): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) – 6 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 11 K
LP (6-12): Lia Nocella (Tyngsboro, Mass.) – 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.) went 3-for-4 with one run scored and four RBI to lead the Gulls.

Comtois tallied an RBI single in the first (1-0), a solo homer to left center in the third (3-0), and a two-run base knock in the sixth (7-0).

Chrissy Marotto (Southington, Conn.) drove in Endicott's other three runs with a sac fly in the first (2-0) and a two-run blast to left field in the fifth (5-0).

GAME TWO: Endicott 7, Wentworth 1

WP (12-4): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) – 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
LP (8-8): Kayla DeMedeiros (South Dartmouth, Mass.) – 4 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

Keelin Spencer (San Jose, Calif.) and Marotto both had two RBI apiece to highlight Endicott offensively.

Marotto pushed the Gulls ahead 3-1 with a run-producing single up the middle in the third, while Spencer put the game out of reach with a two-run double to left center in the fourth.

Marrotto's other RBI came in the first inning, another single up the middle this time to score Spencer.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (27-11) will play the winner of Roger Williams / Wentworth tomorrow at 4 PM.
