Softball Shuts Out Framingham State and Ursinus; Coach Bettencourt Earns 200th Career Win
KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Endicott softball team sweeps in a doubleheader against Framingham State (10-0, W) and Ursinus (8-0, W) on Tuesday evening at Fortune Road Athletic Complex.
GAME ONE: ENDICOTT 10, FRAMINGHAM STATE 0
WP (2-0): Kristen Beebe (Brentwood, N.H.) — 7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 11 K
LP (0-1): Peyton Farris (El Paso, Texas) — 5.1 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 2 BB, 3 K
Mia Mitchell (Medford, Mass.) powered the offense with two hits and five RBI.
Elyse Saccoccio (Coventry, R.I.), Kylyn McLaren (Rochester, N.H.), and Maddie Beeley (Salem, N.H.) also chipped in with three hits apiece.
The Blue and Green struck first, scoring two early runs behind a base hit from Ella Tower (Windham, N.H.) and an RBI groundout from Mitchell.
After a few scoreless innings, Abby McClaflin (Easthampton, Mass.) led off the fifth inning with a base hit to right center and later came around to score on a single from Kyla Story (Salisbury, Mass.), extending the lead to three.
The Gulls kept the momentum going in the following inning, adding three more runs. Mitchell plated two runs with a shot through the middle before Story capped off the inning with an RBI to push the advantage to 7–0.
McLaren and Beeley each singled to start the seventh, while Mitchell drove in two more runs. Saccoccio later stepped in and ripped a gap shot to right field, scoring Mitchell to seal the 10–0 final.
GAME TWO: ENDICOTT 8, URSINUS 0
WP (1-2-1): Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) — 3.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
LP (2-3): Lucy Wolf (Havertown, Pa.) — 3.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 2 K
After taking an early 3-0 lead through four innings, the Gulls exploded with a five-run fifth inning to mercy-rule Ursinus.
Catherine Seay (Marlborough, Mass.) lifted a bases loaded sacrifice fly to center to make it 4-0 before McClaffin followed with a two-run double down the right field line to put the mercy-rule in striking distance.
Saccoccio finished the rest, with a two-run base hit to left field to secure the St. Patrick's Day sweep for the Gulls in green.
Story and Beeley both recorded RBIs to give the Gulls an early 2-0 advantage in the first inning.
Meanwhile, Grady entered the circle in the second inning and never looked back. The left-hander was dominant, tossing a combined no-hitter with freshman starter Maddie Hartman (Rochester, N.H.).
Hartman went 1 1/3 innings, issuing two walks alongside a punchout.
BEYOND THE BOX
- Beebe set a new career-high in strikeouts with 11 (previous was 10).
- Beeley and McLaren recorded career highs with three hits.
- Head Coach Katie Bettencourt earned her 200th career win as Endicott's skipper in game one.
- Mitchell registered a career-high five RBI in game one.
- Emma Caracciolo (Westerly, R.I.) notched her first career hit.
- The Gulls are 8-2 all-time against Framingham State.

Endicott (4-4) returns to action on Thursday, March 19, against UMass Dartmouth and Bates at 12:30 PM and 2:45 PM.
