Endicott Powers Past Babson Behind McClaflin’s Grand Slam, 11-6; Grady Breaks Single-Season Saves Program Record
BABSON PARK, Mass. — The Endicott softball team defeated Babson College, 11-6, in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
WP (7-1): Emma Sheehan (Plainville, Mass.) — 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
LP (3-3): Lexi Sealy (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) — 4.1 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
SV (8): Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) — 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
After trailing by three runs in the fifth inning (5-2 Beavers), Endicott erupted for a nine-run frame, highlighted by back-to-back two-run doubles from Elyse Saccoccio (Coventry, R.I.) and Catherine Seay (Salisbury, Mass.), with Abby McClaflin (Easthampton, Mass.) putting the finishing touch on the inning with a grand slam.
That offensive explosion gave Endicott an 11-5 lead that they did not relinquish the rest of the way, thanks to shutdown relief from Sheehan and Grady.
The offense was powered by McClaflin, who tallied two hits and drove in four runs.
Kylyn McLaren (Rochester, N.H.) and Seay each recorded two hits, with Seay addied two RBIs. Saccoccio chipped in a pair of RBIs in the victory.
