Gulls’ Trio Claims NFCA All-Region Honors
BEVERLY, Mass. – Three members of the Endicott softball team have earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region honors for the first time in their careers.
Junior second baseman Abby McClaflin (Easthampton, Mass.) was named to the NFCA Division III Region II First Team, while senior pitcher Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) and junior outfielder Kylyn McLaren (Rochester, N.H.) earned spots on the NFCA Division III Region II Second Team.
All three first-time honorees are now eligible for NFCA All-America honors, which will be announced on Wednesday, May 27.
As a program, the Gulls have earned 76 All-Region accolades, including 67 from the NFCA since 2002.
ABBY MCCLAFLIN | JR. | 2B
McClaflin produced a .412/.500/.611 slash line (.avg/.obp/.slg) in 42 games played (41 starts) this season.
The junior second baseman compiled team-highs in runs scored (44), hits (54), doubles (15), and walks (23), alongside one triple, three homers, 24 RBI, two sacrifice flies, and seven stolen bases on eight attempts.
She also recorded 80 putouts and 71 assists on 157 chances for a .962 fielding percentage.
Additionally, McClaflin tied for the team lead in multi-hit games with 14 (8-2 hit | 6-3 hit), strung together the longest hitting streak on the squad (10 games), and reached base safely in 30 straight games from March 15 to April 29 (team-best streak).
Situationally, McClaflin hit .400 (16-for-40) with runners in scoring position, a team-high .538 (14-for-26) with two outs, and drove in 12 runners with two outs on the scoreboard.
ANALISE GRADY | SR. | P
In 34 appearances (eight starts, four complete games), Grady registered an impressive 11-6 record, 10 saves, a 2.17 earned run average, 74 strikeouts, and a .244 batting average against while giving up 108 hits, 46 runs (36 earned), and 31 walks.
The senior left-hander's totals for saves and appearances currently rank first and fifth in D3, respectively.
In the Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament, Grady was called upon frequently, pitching to the tune of a 1.62 ERA over 17.1 innings (3-1 record, 1 save).
Grady's relief appearances often came with runners on, and the senior lefty delivered over the course of the season, allowing only 12 inherited runners to score on 28 chances (.429).
Among the Endicott program record books, Grady wrapped up her career positioned first all-time in total saves (17), and games finished (51), and fifth in appearances (76). Her single-season rankings include most saves (10, 2026), appearances (34, 2026), and games finished (26), all coming this season.
KYLYN MCLAREN | JR. | INF/OF
McLaren notched a .414/.474/.716 slash line in 41 games played (40 starts), primarily as an outfielder.
The junior utility player started the majority of her games in center field (21 total, 15-6 record), while also seeing time in right field (15 games) and at second base (4 contests).
McLaren paced the team in batting average, slugging percentage, home runs (8), RBI (41), and total bases (83) on the year.
Her other offensive stats included 36 runs scored, 48 hits (11 doubles), 13 walks, two sacrifice flies, three sacrifice bunts, and a 5-of-6 showing on stolen base attempts.
She also rose to the occasion in the playoffs, and then some, slashing at a .435/.500/.913 clip in eight games. McLaren's full playoff run included eight runs scored, 10 hits (2 doubles, 3 homers), and 11 RBI.
Meanwhile, in the CNE Tournament, the junior center fielder compiled a .467/.529/1.000 slash line in five postseason games played alongside six runs scored, seven hits (two doubles, two homers), and nine RBI.
In the championship round alone, McLaren went 2-for-5 with three runs scored, one homer, three RBI, and a walk (.400/.571/1.000).
She was named the CNE Tournament Most Outstanding Player for her efforts.
YEAR IN REVIEW
Endicott posted a 27-15 overall record and a 15-5 mark in CNE play this season.
The Gulls also captured the CNE Championship trophy by defeating Roger Williams twice, 1-0 and 7-5, on Sunday, May 10, to hoist their 18th conference title in program history before concluding the year with a 1-2 record in the NCAA Tournament.
