Lovoy Nails Jumper at Buzzer for Salve Regina

NEWPORT, RI - Freshman guard Allegra Lovoy sank a 14-foot jumper to propel Salve Regina University past Endicott College, 51-49, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game Saturday afternoon.
Lovoy finished with eight points while Lindsay Frederick added 14 points and 15 rebounds and Margaret O'Brien put home 10 in the win for the Seahawks (7-5, 4-2 CCC).
Meanwhile, senior guard Liz Yuneman (Middle Village, NY/St. Francis Prep) was the only Endicott player to reach double digits. She had 11 points and grabbed five boards while freshman forward Nicole Young (Rockland, MA/Cardinal Spellman) and senior guard Jodi Brown (Coventry, RI/Coventry) each had seven points in the win.
Endicott, which fell to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in the CCC, shot 27 percent from the field while Salve was hitting at a 34 percent clip. Endicott converted 19-of-20 from the free throw line but the Seahawks owned a 43-32 advantage on the boards.
Aubrey Drugan (Salem, NH/Bishop Guertin), Sara Doherty (Somerville, MA/Arlington Catholic) and Kate Harte (Warner, NH/Kearsarge Regional) all had six points for EC. Drugan added four steals, eight rebounds and two assists.
The Gulls will travel to the University of New England Tuesday night (6).
