Feb. 27, 2006
BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College women's basketball team earned the right to play at least one more game. Monday afternoon, the Gulls were selected to compete in the 2006 ECAC Tournament.
Endicott (18-10) earned the fifth seed in the upcoming tourney and will travel to No. 4 Bridgewater State College (19-7) on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 7:00 PM in the opening round of the single elimination tourney.
The Bears beat the Gulls in the regular season, 74-64. The winner will face the winner of the No. 1 Mount Holyoke (20-6) versus No. 8 Western Connecticut (15-12) on Friday.
Endicott lost in the Commonwealth Coast Conference title game to Colby-Sawyer College but was rewarded Monday afternoon when the selection committee called on the team for the second straight season.
Last season, head coach Jen Lucey and the Gulls made the school's first-ever ECAC appearance. The team had its sights set on a CCC title and subsequent NCAA automatic bid. Despite making their deepest run to date in the CCC Tournament, the Gulls were stopped by the Chargers, 46-43 in the championship.
