Dec. 1, 2005
BEVERLY, MA - Senior guard Jodi Brown (Coventry, RI/Coventry) scored a game-high 19 points to lead Endicott College past Emerson College, 73-44, in a non-league contest Thursday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.
Brown canned four first-half three pointers and was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc in leading all scorers. Brown also had three steals and four rebounds while junior guard Kate Harte (Warner, NH/Kearsarge Regional) contributed 10 points off the bench to help Endicott improve to 3-1. The Lions fell to 1-3 with the loss.
The visitors played EC tough in the first half and trailed just 14-12 when Brown drained her fourth three of the night and the hosts closed out the half on a 17-4 run.
The Gulls' defense was again rock-steady, limiting Emerson to 30 percent shooting from the field and forcing 24 turnovers. Endicott recorded nine blocks led by two apiece from Sarah Voigt (Kingston, NH/Sanborn Regional), Paris Sanders (Needham, MA/Minuteman Technical) and Harte.
Allie Bernier (Dayville, CT) sparked the Lions' attack with 11 points while Ellie Feitlinger (Madison, WI) came off the bench to record 10 points.
Liz Yuneman (Middle Villiage, NY/St. Francis Prep) recorded nine points in the win while Nicole Young (Rockland, MA/Cardinal Spellman), Hayley Janelle (Madbury, NH/Oyster River) and Sara Doherty (Somerville, MA/Arlington Catholic) each chipped in six points.
Endicott plays host to Gordon next Tuesday night (6) while the Lions are hosting the Emerson-Pine Manor Friendly Tournament Friday and Saturday.
