MILTON, MA - Endicott College put four players into double figures on Saturday afternoon, as the Gulls notched their third straight Commonwealth Coast Conference win, 79-65 over Curry College.
Endicott opened Saturday's game on fire, as the blue and green quickly jumped out to 22-4 advantage. The Gulls played a strong opening half, capped off by a Sara Doherty (Somerville, MA/Arlington Catholic) deep three-ball to send the visitors into the locker room with a 44-27 lead.
Curry returned to the hardwood and began chipping away at the Endicott lead. The Colonels put together an impressive stretch where they went on a 15 to four run. Bonnie Hirtle (Quincy, MA/Quincy) led the comeback charge, as she scored two of her game-high 19 with 9:18 remaining in regulation to cut the lead to three at 58-55.
Endicott responded in a big way as the Gulls squashed the Curry comeback attempt by rattling off seven straight points. Paris Sanders (Needham, MA/Minuteman Tech.) pushed the Gulls offense back to a comfortable margin at 75-65, eventually closing out a 79-65 victory.
The Gulls excelled from the free-throw line, as Endicott shot 32-for-38 on the afternoon. The blue and green were led by Sanders' team-high 18 points. Aubrey Drugan (Salem, NH/Bishop Guertin) and Nicole Duchesne (Plaistow, NH/Central Catholic) had strong outings, as the pair shot a combined 17-for-18 from the free-throw line, while accounting for 29 points of total offense. The Colonels were led by Hirtle's game-high 19.
With the win, Endicott improves to 10-6 overall and 7-1 in the CCC.
