Deborah Buff named women's basketball coach

BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott College Director of Athletics Brian Wylie has announced the hiring of Deborah Buff as the Gulls' new head women's basketball coach. Buff brings 25 years of coaching and administrative experience to Endicott's nationally respected basketball program.
Buff, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Cortland State and a Master of Science in Health Education from Russell Sage College, comes to Beverly after serving as the head coach at the Rochester Institute of Technology for the past six seasons. With the Tigers, Buff set an RIT record as the program's all-time winningest coach. She was also named the 2006-2007 Empire 8 Coach of the Year after guiding her squad to a 15-12 record and its first-ever appearance in the E8 and ECAC tournament(s).
Prior to taking over the RIT program, Buff served as the First Assistant at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y. She helped lead the Golden Knights to a top-10 national ranking, and in 1999-2000, the top team in the region with a 34-1 overall record. One of her main duties with Saint Rose was directing the recruiting effort, helping the Golden Knights win three-straight NYCAC Championships.
Buff also brings a wealth of athletic administrative experience to Endicott, as she served as the Athletic Director and varsity coach at Bishop Maginn High School (Albany, N.Y.) from 1985-2001. Buff was the NYS Coach of the Year in 1996, captured five Big 10 conference titles, and closed out her tenure with a 203-57 overall record. As Athletic Director, she oversaw the department's budget, schedule and staff.
