Endicott routs Anna Maria, 72-25

PAXTON, Mass. - The Endicott College women's basketball team had four players finish in double-figures as they defeated Anna Maria College, 72-25, in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup on Wednesday night at The Fuller Activities Center. The Gulls improve to 12-4 on the season and 3-1 in the TCCC, while the AMCATS fall to 3-12 overall and 0-4 in the Conference.
Already leading 8-5 just three minutes into the game, Endicott erupted to go on 20-0 run with senior guard Nicole Duchesne (Plaistow, N.H.) leading the charge, scoring eight points during the stretch. The Gulls kept their foot on the gas pedal, outscoring AMC 12-0 on the fast break during the half.
Endicott went into the locker room with a comfortable 44-15 lead. The Gulls dominated the AMCATS inside, outscoring AMC 28-2 in the paint in the period.
In the second half it was much of the same, with Endicott starting the period on a 19-0 run, opening a 63-15 lead. The Gulls were able to coast for the rest of the game to capture the 72-25 victory.
The most telling stats in the game were Endicott's 36-4 advantage in the paint and their 16-0 dominance on the fast break. The Gulls also played stifling defense, holding AMC to just 19.2% shooting from the floor.
The Gulls were paced by Duchesne who had a game-high 13 points and five steals to go along with three assists and six rebounds. Sophomore Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.), sophomore Ashley Vitale (Wilmington, Mass.) and senior Nicole Young (Rockland, Mass.) all scored in double-figures with 12, 10, and 10, respectively.
Junior Maggie Sielawa (Webster, Mass.) collected a game-high nine rebounds for Anna Maria, while freshman Samantha Ashton (Worcester, Mass.) chipped in with five points, six rebounds, two assists, and a block.
Endicott will return to the court when they travel to take on Wentworth Saturday at 1:00 pm in TCCC action. Anna Maria will look to bounce back against the University of New England on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
