Gulls notch 10th win, ground Eagles

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott College women’s basketball team scored 33 points off 31 Daniel Webster College turnovers as the Gulls defeated the Eagles, 70-50, in non-conference hoops action on Thursday night in Beverly, Mass. Four Endicott players scored in double-digits led by a game-high 18 points from \#Ashley Vitale\# (Wilmington, Mass.) who helped the Gulls improve to 10-5 overall this season. Daniel Webster had their six game winning-streak snapped and fall to 10-4 overall with the setback.
Endicott only trailed for 2:01 in the first half before the Gulls built leads in excess of 17 points capped off by a three-pointer from \#Ashley Wright\# (Merrimack, N.H.) for a 33-16 lead. Daniel Webster cut the lead down to 12 on a three-ball from Alycia Gervais (Windham, Conn.), but entered the half down 14 as \#Nicole Heffernan\# (Londonderry, N.H.) scored with :35 seconds left in the half to give the Blue and Green a 38-24 lead at the break.
Gervais led the Eagles into the intermission with a team-leading 10 points and six rebounds. The Gulls were paced by nine points from Ashley Vitale while \#Ashley Wright\# and \#Ceciley Chisholm\# (Lexington, Mass.) each added eight in the frame. The Gulls shot an effective 47.1% while forcing 14 Daniel Webster turnovers.
The Eagles came out of the half and quickly cut the deficit to six as an and-one layup by Vanessa Bosques (North Windham, Conn.) made it a 42-36 game with just over 17 minutes to play in regulation. That would be as close as the Eagles could get, however, as Endicott built leads as high as 22 points in grabbing their 10th win of the season.
Vitale scored a game-high 18 points and added four rebounds and three assists while Wright chipped in with 13 points and four steals. Both \#Ceciley Chisholm\# and \#Jen McBrien\# (Medfield, Mass.) added matching totals of 10 points and six rebounds. \#Nicole Heffernan\# came off the bench to hand out a game-high five assists in the win.
