BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 11 Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Curry, 3-1, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Friday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
After Curry took a 1-0 lead in the second period, Abbey Agrodnia (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) buried her third goal of the season with 2:45 remaining in the period to tie the game. The senior defender fired one home from the point off feeds from Riley Perkins (Lakeville, Mass.) and Gracyn Kurrle (Middlesex, Vt.).
Maddie DiNardo (Topsfield, Mass.) put the Blue and Green on top in the third period, finding the back of the net at the 14:50 mark to make it 2-1.
From there, Julia Carrigan (Northfield, Ill.) took a breakaway pass from Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) and potted her third goal of the season to give the Gulls a 3-1 lead. Hall found a streaking Carrigan with a pass from inside her own defensive zone and allowed the freshman to go one-on-one with the goalie as she beat the netminder while Endicott was on the penalty-kill.
In goal, Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas) made 36 saves in the victory to improve to 4-2-0 overall.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls hold a 13-1-1 advantage in the all-time series.
- Moritz becomes the second goalie all-time to surpass 1,000 career saves.
- With her two shorthanded goals this season, Carrigan is now the all-time leader in shorthanded goals.
- Kurrle also won a game-high 18 faceoffs in the victory.
