BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 11 Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Johnson & Wales, 1-0, on Friday night in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
Tied 0-0 late in the second period, Julia Carrigan (Northfield, Ill.) broke the stalemate for the Gulls with 1:59 remaining when she buried a slot feed from Mackenzie Graham (Billerica, Mass.) for her fourth career goal.
Jo Wimler (Portland, Conn.) generated the scoring opportunity by creating a turnover behind the net before Graham collected the loose puck in the blocker-side corner and found a wide-open Carrigan in front of the crease.
In goal, Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas) made 31 saves (7-7-17) to improve to 5-2-1 overall this season (33-10-3 career).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 11-0-1 all-time against the Wildcats.
- Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) played in her 100th career game tonight, becoming the 13th student-athlete in program history to achieve the feat.
- Moritz notched her second shutout of the season (13th career, ranks 3rd all-time in program history).
- Wimler dished out her 11th assist of the season (tied for team-high, 19th career helper).
- Carrigan potted her second career game-winner.
- Ella Rago (Westford, Mass.) finished the contest going 9-11 at the faceoff-dot.
