No. 14 Women's Ice Hockey Skates Past Nichols, 6-0
HARRISVILLE, R.I. — The No. 14 Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Nichols, 6-0, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Friday afternoon at Levy Rink.
The Gulls scored twice in every period to lead them to the road victory.
Cammi Ahern (Oswego, N.Y.) and Kenzie Hydon (Sudbury, Mass.) both found the back of the net in the first period to open up a 2-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes.
Ahern opened the scoring as she potted home a losse puck in front of the goal for her fifth goal of the season. Then, Hydon and Mackenzie Graham (Billerica, Mass.) worked a goal scoring opportunity that saw Graham find Hydon out front for a 2-0 lead.
In the second period, Lilly Corso (Winchester, Mass.) and Gracyn Kurrle (Middlesex, Vt.) pushed the Gulls lead to 4-0. Corso found the back of the goal at the 11:38 mark with a shot from the near circle that beat the Bison goalie low. Kurrle followed on a rebound opportunity off a shot by Joey Brown (Scituate, Mass.) for her fifth goal of the season as well.
Over the final 20 minutes, it was Riley Perkins (Lakeville, Mass.) and Ahern who finished the scoring for the Blue and Green.
Perkins scored while Endicott was shorthanded following Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) stealing the puck in the Gulls defensive zone and racing down to feed Perkins on the back post. Ahern's second of the game was a power-play tally with 54 seconds left to secure the 6-0 victory.
In goal, Lauren Ferrari (Bridgewater, N.J.) made 27 saves to pick up the shutout victory to improve her record to 11-2-1. The shutout was her fifth of the season and ninth of her career.
