Golden Bears Down the Gulls 12-19

Springfield, MA - Gulls lacrosse travelled to Springfield, MA and fought back from a 6-14 deficit at the half to open the second with a five goal run that brought them within three. The Gulls held WNEC scoreless in the first ten minutes of second half play allowing the visitors to tighten the gap 11-14.

The opening minutes of the match saw the Gulls and Golden Bears struggle for the lead, until the home team pulled away and scored eight goals for a 14-6 lead entering the half.

Scoring the Gulls first two goals of the contest was Lindsey O'Connell (Fr/Mansfield, MA) off an assist from Lauren Gibbons (So/Shaker Heights, OH), and unassisted seconds later. O'Connell finished with a team-high four goals and one assist, while Gibbons added another assist to O'Connell and a goal of her own, good for three points.

Also scoring for the Gulls were Cathy Sharp (So/Rutland, VT), Susie Neikirk (So/Scotia, NY), Jess Blair (Jr/Middlebury, VT), Christine Wilmott (Jr/Barre, VT) with two goals, Katie White (Sr/Ridgefield, CT) with one goal and two assists, and Hannah Watson (Fr/Shaftsbury, VT) on a free position.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Tavella (Madison, CT) made nine saves in the second half.

The Gulls will play their final regular season home game on Saturday, April 24th at 12:00 pm against conference opponent Salve Regina.
