EC Defeats USM 22-9 at Home

Beverly, MA - The Gulls returned to their home field today to take on the University of Southern Maine Huskies in non-conference play. With this 22-9 win, the Gulls improve to 4-0 on the season.
Endicott's Lindsey O'Connell (So/Mansfield, MA) opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal just seconds into the contest at 29:22. EC attackers Cathy Sharp (Jr/Rutland, VT) and Christine Wilmott (Sr/Barre, VT) combined for twelve goals, six apiece. O'Connell finished with three goals and one assist, Sara Stevens (Fr/Sidney, ME) had her first two goals of the season, Jessica Blair (Sr/Middlebury, VT) picked up one goal and one assist, and senior Emily McCarthy (Portland, ME), and juniors Lauren Gibbons (Shaker Heights, OH) and Heather Hatfield (Tyngsboro, MA) rounded out the scoring for the Gulls' offense with one goal each.
The home team out shot the visitors 49-19, controlling the ball for most of the sixty minutes. The Huskies managed four first half goals, and five in the second. Sarah Proulx had a team-high three goals for USM.
Endicott goalkeeper Erin Curry (So/East Hampstead, NH) was outstanding in goal, turning away the Huskies for 12 saves.
The Gulls will be back at home on Tuesday, March 29 at 4:00 pm to match up against conference opponent University of New England.
