Sharp Named CCC Co-Player of the Week
Beverly, MA - Endicott junior Cathy Sharp (Rutland, VT) earned Commonwealth Coast Co-Player of the Week Honors, as announced by the Conference on Monday. Sharp netted 12 goals in a pair of Gull victories this past week.
In EC's first CCC contest of the season, Sharp scored six goals, helping the Gulls defeat Roger Williams University, 14-2. In the next contest, Sharp again tallied six goals, in a 22-9 win versus the University of Southern Maine. "Cathy's goal scoring ability is creative and successful," Head Coach Laura O'Neil said. "She is a true leader on the team and continuously gives 100% in every practice and game." Endicott outscored their opponents 36-11, extending their winning streak to four matches.
The junior has scored 17 goals in four games, averaging 4.25 per game, making her the second leading scorer in the Conference. Sharp is third in points in the CCC, tallying 19, and averaging 4.75 per game. "We are very fortunate to have such a talented and hard working player like Cathy on our team," Coach O'Neil commented. "She is a key contributor on offense and defense."
As a team, the women are first in the CCC in scoring, with 71 goals. They collectively average 17.75 per game. EC is currently undefeated, posting a 4-0 record, 1-0 in the CCC. Tonight, the Gulls host the University of New England in a CCC match-up. Game time is 4:00 PM.
