EC Continues Their Winning Streak
March 31, 2005
Beverly, MA - The Endicott women's lacrosse team battled it out on their home field today against UMass-Dartmouth and came up with their hardest fought win of the season. The Gulls are now 6-0, their longest unbeaten streak in the program's history.
Gulls sophomore attacker Lindsey O'Connell (Mansfield, MA) scored the first two goals of the match to put the Gulls ahead 2-0 in the opening minutes, before the visitors' Katelyn Elliot evened it up with two of her own. The two teams were even with five goals apiece at the half.
With just over four minutes remaining, the Gulls were down by one and UMD took possession off the draw control. EC defenders got the turnover and brought the ball into Gulls offensive territory where Christine Wilmott (Sr/Barre, VT) tied it 9-9 on an assist from O'Connell with 3:50 left on the clock. O'Connell scored her third goal and the game winner unassisted before time ran out. Gulls offense held possesion for the remainder.
Senior defender Erica Harrington (Sr/Underhill, VT) was outstanding for the Gulls. The defensive unit continuously stripped the ball from their opponents to start the Gulls offensive drive.
The Gulls next game is at home against conference opponent Nichols College. The contest will take place at Endicott's stadium on Saturday, April 2, at 12:00 pm.
