EC Undefeated at Home

Beverly, MA - The Gulls finished their regular season schedule at home today with a win over Salve Regina University, 19-11.
Salve Regina opened the scoring early with two free-position goals to take a 2-0 lead. The Gulls turned it on to score six unanswered goals and to claim the lead for good. Salve mounted a second-half rally with twelve minutes left to play, scoring five goals before EC finished it off with the final four goals of the game for the 19-11 win. Salve's only lead of the game came from their opening shots.
The Gulls outshot visiting Salve 41-23. Endicott's Susie Neikirk (Jr/Scotia, NY) led all scorers with six points from four goals and two assists. Cathy Sharp (Jr/Rutland, VT) found the back of the net five times to lead the team in goals scored against Salve keeper Brooke Bowley. Lindsey O'Connell (So/Mansfield, MA) notched four goals, senior Christine Wilmott had three goals, while Meaghan Mathers (So/Northampton, MA), Heather Hatfield (Jr/Tyngsboro, MA), and Lauren Gibbons added one goal each.
EC defenders stripped Salve of the ball for twenty-one caused turnovers. In goal, EC keeper Erin Curry (So/Hampstead, NH) made nine saves in the win.
The Gulls finish the regular season 12-3 overall, 6-2 in the CCC. They await final seeding for the conference tournament as this win puts them in a four-way tie for first place by conference record with Gordon College (6-2 CCC), New England College (6-2 CCC), and University of New England (6-2 CCC). The conference tournament begins Tuesday; the two top-seeded teams will get a bye, and play at their home fields on Thursday for the semi-final.
