Women’s Lacrosse Routs Plymouth State In Season Opener, 22-5
BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team never trailed in its 22-5 season-opening victory over Plymouth State on Wednesday evening at Hempstead Stadium.
Mia Smith (Portsmouth, N.H.) buried a career-high seven goals and dished out one assist to fuel the Gulls' efforts.
Emerson Clark (Gloucester, Mass.) also tallied four goals and one assist in the victory.
Kenzie Velsmid (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) produced an all-around game with two tallies and a game-high/career-high nine draw controls, along with aiding Endicott to a 13-for-15 showing on clears.
Clare Wendell (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Sophia Notine (Arundel, Maine), Abby Giannetti (Amherst, N.H.), Mia Kaczmarek (South Burlington, Vt.), Kendal Kelsey (Queensbury, N.Y.), Mia Samarjian (Stow, Mass.), Abbie Belleville (Salem, Conn.), and Leah Black (Cheshire, Conn.) all buried solo tallies to round out the scoring.
In goal, Severine Michel (Seekonk, Mass.) earned the win in her collegiate debut (45 minutes) behind two saves.
Faith Minickene (Madison, Conn.) also made her collegiate women's lacrosse debut, stopping one shot in 15 minutes of action. Minickene is an All-American goalie for the Endicott field hockey program.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- First meeting between the programs since 2000.
- The Gulls picked up their first victory in the all-time series.
- Endicott produced a 7-0 run in the first half (Q1, 3-2, 5:48 to Q2, 10-2, 7:36) and a 10-0 spurt in the second half (Q3, 12-4, 12:59 to Q4, 22-4, 3:13) to completely put the non-conference game away.
- Black finished with four assists as well, her fourth career game finishing with four assists.
- Smith's seven goals are tied for sixth most in a single game all-time.
- Kate Cassidy (Portsmouth, N.H.) made her first career start at defense today.
- Giannetti scored her first collegiate goal at the 3:13 mark of the fourth.
- Along with Gianetti, Michel, and Minickene, Jenna Baccari (Woburn, Mass.), Keira Fletcher (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.), Abby MacDonald (Wrentham, Mass.), and Ada Weaber (Salisbury, Vt.) all made their collegiate debuts.

Endicott (1-0) hosts Springfield on Saturday, March 7, at 12 PM. Plymouth State (0-2) welcomes the University of New England (UNE) to Panther Field this Saturday at 12 PM.
