Francis Named CNE Defensive Player of the Week
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott women's lacrosse sophomore defender Olivia Francis (Simsbury, Conn.) has been named Conference of New England (CNE) Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office earlier today.
In a 2-2 week for the Gulls, Francis led the team with four caused turnovers while scooping up seven ground balls.
Francis was part of a defensive unit that allowed just 27 shots to MIT including three in the fourth quarter to allow the Gulls to mount a comeback.
The sophomore then followed up against Johnson & Wales with a caused turnover and tied a team-high three ground balls. She helped force the Wildcats into 19 turnovers while allowing just 12 shots.
Then against Gordon, the Simsbury, Conn. native posted a game/career-high three caused turnovers and added two ground balls in the 25-1 victory. Also had an assist as well in the win.
Finally, she finished the week with two ground balls in a setback to Bowdoin.
This is her first career CNE Defensive Player of the Week honor.
