Gulls Place Five On The IWLCA All-Region Team
BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott student-athletes Abbie Belleville (Salem, Conn.), Leah Black (Cheshire, Conn.), Emerson Clark (Gloucester, Mass.), Caroline Rocco (North Grafton, Mass.), and Mia Smith (Portsmouth, N.H.) have all received Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region honors.
All five student-athletes were chosen for the Pilgrim Region Second Team. This is the first career All-Region honor for Belleville, Clark, and Rocco, while Black and Smith were both named to the All-Region team last season.
Belleville, Black, Clark, Rocco, and Smith are now eligible to be named IWLCA All-Americans.
ABBIE BELLEVILLE | JR. | M
Belleville finished the season scoring 34 goals, while also scooping up 16 ground balls and winning 55 draw controls.
The Salem, Conn. native set new career highs in goals and points (35) as she was named to the All-Conference Second Team and named Most Outstanding Player of the CNE Tournament.
Belleville had 13 games this season in which she had two or more goals, including each of her final six contests. The junior now ranks eighth all-time in draw controls with 147.
LEAH BLACK | SR. | A
In 20 games this season, Black scored 40 goals and had 37 assists for 77 points. She also scooped up 28 ground balls. The 37 assists rank sixth most in a single season.
The Cheshire, Conn. posted a new career high in assists while also going over 100 career goals and 200 career points.
Black finished with three or more points in 15 games including eight in Endicott's victory over Springfield.
EMERSON CLARK | JR. | A
This season, Clark scored 52 goals and had 18 assists for 70 points. She also scooped up 19 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers.
The junior set new career highs in nearly every statistical category as she was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second time. She went over 100 career goals and 150 career points during this season.
Clark had seven games this season with five or more points while also scoring five goals in three games.
CAROLINE ROCCO | SR. | D
In 20 games this season, Rocco compiled 48 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers to go with two assists.
She was named to the CNE First-Team for the first time in her career while setting career marks in ground balls and caused turnovers.
The North Grafton, Mass. native had four games with multiple caused turnovers and also posted six ground balls in the CNE Championship game against Roger Williams.
MIA SMITH | SR. | M
Smith scored a career-high 56 goals to go with 14 assists for 70 points. The senior also had 28 ground balls and 47 draw controls.
The senior moved to 10th all-time in points with 209 and goals with 140 in addition to being named a CNE First Team member for the second consecutive season.
Smith posted a point in 19 out of 20 games this season including a season-high eight points with seven goals and an assist in the season opener against Plymouth St.
YEAR IN REVIEW
Endicott went 15-5 overall and 10-0 in league play. The first-seeded Gulls defeated second-seeded Hartford, 17-11 in the CNE Championship game to earn the program's 15th conference title and advance to the NCAA Tournament.
The Gulls would fall in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament to No. 23 Haverford, 19-9.
