Miller and Flynn earn All-New England Honors
Dec. 11, 2008
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Endicott College's Sarah Miller (Nashua, N.H.) and Caitlin Flynn (Southold, N.Y.) were named to the NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division III Women All-New England Region team. Miller was named to the First Team while Flynn was honored as a Third Team member. The Gulls were also recognized with the Women's Team Academic Award for their cumulative 3.23 team GPA.
Sarah Miller was the backbone of the defense as well as the vocal leader for the Gulls. Miller was fourth on the team with four goals this season and had three assists. She also played and started in every game for the Gulls this year despite having a lower arm injury that required her to be in a cast for several weeks. Miller was selected to the TCCC All-First Team this season in addition to this honor.
The Commonwealth Coast Conference's Player of the Year Caitlin Flynn was honored as a Third Team All-New England member. She was the offensive leader for the Gulls as she scored 16 goals and had eight assists in 2008. Flynn was named the TCCC Player of the Year as she led the conference in points (40), while also coming in tied for second in goals, and third in assists.
Endicott wrapped up its season with a 16-3-3 record overall after amassing an impressive 13-2-2 record heading into the postseason. The Gulls would enter the TCCC Championship game for the eighth-consecutive year while looking for their sixth-consecutive title. However, the Gulls would suffer a heart-breaking defeat at the hands of Roger Williams, 1-0.
Despite the disappointment, the NCAA selection committee selected the Gulls for the College's first ever NCAA At-Large Bid. Endicott would travel to Rochester, N.Y. and defeat the host school, Nazareth College, 1-0 in double overtime. In the second round, the Gulls faced fifth-ranked William Smith College, losing to the eventual Final Four participant in penalty kicks, 4-3.
