NORTON, Mass. - The Endicott women's soccer team fell to Wheaton (Mass.) 3-2 in non-conference action on Wednesday evening. The loss drops Endicott's record to 4-2 overall, while Wheaton improves to 3-1-2 on the season.

The Gulls jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Jaymie Caponigro (Swampscott, Mass.) scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 24th minute. The tally would be the only goal of the half as Endicott keeper Kayla Wentworth (Taunton, Mass.) made four stops in the opening 45 minutes of play to keep the Gulls ahead 1-0 at halftime.

Endicott would then extend the lead to 2-0 when Hannah Pesci (Windham, N.H.) chipped a shot over the Lyons' keeper in the 48th minute of play.

Wheaton was then able to turn the tables, striking for three goals in a 14-minute stretch to secure the 3-2 victory.

  • Wentworth would make eight saves in the setback.
  • Caponigro now leads the Gulls in goals (4) and points (9). Those marks currently tie her for fourth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).
  • Endicott is now 2-2 against NEWMAC foes as they have defeated Wellesley (3-1) and Clark (2-1 OT). The Gulls have one remaining match against a NEWMAC foe as they play host to Babson on Tuesday, September 24 at 4:00 PM.

Endicott (4-2) travels to Salve Reinga (3-3) on Saturday for a 12:00 PM start. This match marks the CCC opener for both programs.
