Women's Soccer Claims 3-1 Victory Over CCC Rival RWU

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's soccer team claimed an impressive 3-1 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Roger Williams on Saturday evening as part of Endicott's Homecoming & Family Weekend. The win improves Endicott to 4-2-2 overall and 3-0-0 in CCC play on the season while Roger Williams falls to 7-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in CCC play.

Following a foul in the box, Jaymie Caponigro (Swampscott, Mass.) buried a penalty past the Hawks' keeper to give Endicott a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute. That tally would prove to be the only one of the first half.

The visiting Hawks would counter early in the second half, as Kelly Yadoff (Wyckoff, N.J.) scored off a through ball from Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) to even the score at 1-1 at the 55:30 mark.

From there, it would be all Gulls as the women would post two goals less than three minutes apart at the 74:21 mark, and at 77:08. Endicott's second goal of the match came off a ball that was floated into the box and volleyed around until it was settled by Grace Jewett (Millis, Mass.). Jewett settled the ball and found Alexandria Dostie (Essex Junction, Vt.) who beat the keeper to give Endicott the 2-1 lead.

Less than three minutes later, the Gulls would apply pressure again and capitalize when Jewett would make a run and maintain possession through contact before spinning and firing a shot into the lower corner of the net to give Endicott the 3-1 lead. That score would hold true through the remaining 12 minutes of play.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• The Gulls held a distinct 20-9 advantage in total shots, which included a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
• Jewett's three point performance late in the second half started 4 minutes after she subbed into the match at the 70:40 mark.
• Endicott is now 17-11-6 all-time against Roger Williams.
• The 3-1 final represents the first two goal differential in any matchup between these two programs since Endicott claimed a 2-0 victory on Sept. 17, 2008. Every other match has been decided by one goal, penalty kicks, or has ended in a draw.
