Women's Soccer Shuts Out Emerson 1-0; Secure Pien's First Career Victory
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's soccer team won its first game of the season on Wednesday evening, besting Emerson by a 1-0 score at Hempstead Stadium.
The Gulls controlled the pace for much of the first half of play. They set up a few good chances, and eventually in the 40th minute, Eliza Walker (Marshfield, Mass.) ripped a missile from 30 yards out into the upper left netting to give the Gulls their first lead of the season.
They carried that lead into the second half, and throughout the entirety of the second half, their dominant midfield and backfield play held Emerson shotless. Rhiann Dugan (West Boylston, Mass.), Chloe Bauman (Southington, Conn.), Michelle Donahue (Melrose, Mass.), and Madeline Barbieri (Cranston, R.I.) led the charge in the shutdown defensive effort for the Gulls.
Amanda Cosgrove (Newton, Mass.) picked up her first career win in net after she logged another 90 minutes between the posts for the Blue and Green.

- First career head coaching win for Lauren Pien.
-
The Gulls improve to 6-1-2 against the Lions in nine all-time matchups.
- First career assist for Olivia Andriola (Guilderland, N.Y.), who set up Walker on her goal by poking away the ball from a Lions defender and dropping it off to Walker for the highlight score.
- Fourth career game-winner for Walker.
- The Gulls outshot the Lions 6-0 in the contest.
