Dugan, Barbieri Highlight Women's Soccer CNE Postseason Award Winners
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's soccer team has received three Conference of New England (CNE) Postseason honorees, and also claimed two of the league's major awards, the conference office announced on Friday morning.
Rhiann Dugan (West Boylston, Mass.) was named the CNE Defensive Player of the Year while Madeline Barbieri (Cranston, R.I.) earned Scholar Athlete of the Year honors for the Gulls.
Dugan earned a spot on the All-CNE First Team alongside Hannah Lord (Bedford, N.H.), while Barbieri appeared on the All-CNE Second Team.
Additionally, Dugan was also named to the CNE Community Service Team for her charitable contributions and outstanding leadership within the Endicott community.
MAJOR AWARD WINNERS
RHIANN DUGAN | SR. | D | WEST BOYLSTON, MASS.
Defensive Player of the Year | All-CNE First Team | CNE Community Service Team
Dugan is the fifth member of the Endicott women's soccer program to claim conference Defensive Player of the Year accolades (first since 2021).
The Gulls' center back started all 18 games she appeared in this season. Out of those 18 games, she played the full 90 minutes on 15 occasions, and grinded out all 110 minutes of action in Wednesday's CNE Semifinal against Suffolk.
Dugan headlined a Gulls defense that ranked among the tops in CNE play with just 0.60 goals allowed per game. Her leadership from the back line was a major reason as to why the Blue and Green went 10-3-2 (7-2-0 CNE) since 9/10/25.
At Nichols on October 18, she scored her first career goal via a header, and later added an assist as well for a career-best three-point performance.
Her defensive presence guided the Gulls to eight shutouts on the year, including a streak of three straight actively. She and the rest of the Gulls defenders limited opponents to an average of just 2.89 shots on goal per game this season.
These awards mark the first conference postseason awards in Dugan's career.
MADELINE BARBIERI | SR. | D | CRANSTON, R.I.
Scholar Athlete of the Year | All-CNE Second Team
Barbieri becomes just the third student-athlete in Endicott women's soccer program history to achieve Scholar Athlete of the Year honors (first since 2011). She joins Colleen Pepin '12 and Sarah Cosselman '02 as the lone Gulls to earn the esteemed honors.
Barbieri boasts a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.98 as a Finance & Marketing major.
She is a member of the Endicott College Scholars Program, a Sigma Beta Delta Member (top 20% of junior and senior class standing in the Gerrish School of Business), a 6x Dean's List member, and was the Picerne Family Foundation Scholarship Recipient.
Over the course of her Endicott career, Barbieri has completed internships with BlueDog Capital Partners (finance and marketing internship), Ryan LLC (sales and use tax intern) and Rhode Island Family Court (legal administrative assistant).
She has also volunteered extensively with Team Impact and with "Aligning the Learning Day," which teaches underprivileged children the fundamentals of robotics and engineering.
The Gulls' senior captain adds the Scholar Athlete award and second team berth to her resume along with last season's CNE Community Service Team.
