Gulls Suffer Their First Loss in the 2004 Season
Beverly, MA-- In their second Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match-up of the season, the women's tennis team faced a tough Colby-Sawyer team. Battling against the Charges, the Gulls fought hard, but fell by a score of 4-5.
The Gulls took three of six singles matches, and won one of three in the doubles. Winning in their single matches were Blythe Langley, Lauren Gibbons and Stephanie Branch. Langley and Gibbons paired up, and won their doubles match, 8-2.
The Gulls had to play out of position, due to the 4th singles player who was unable to compete. Stephanie Branch had an exciting three set match (6-4, 0-6, 6-3), prevailing in the end against Tarren Bailey.
The Gulls have their first home match of the 2004 season, this Saturday at 1PM against Salve Regina, the 2003 CCC Champions. The Gulls lost to Salve in the Finals, 5-4. That marked the second year in a row the Gulls finished in second place.
