Endicott Falls to Regis, 7-2
Beverly, MA-- The women's tennis team had a very competitive match against Regis College with the top three teams going into tiebreakers. The Gulls fought hard against the Pride, but fell by a score of 7-2.
Blythe Langley had a very close match against Aurore Lormeus falling in the first set 0-6 but was ahead most of the 2nd. Her opponent tied the score at 6-6. The tiebreaker was neck and neck but her opponent battled to win the tiebreaker at 5-7.
Playing at 2nd singles, Carli Conners had a very decisive first set win of 6-2, but her opponent won the second set, 3-6. The third set Super Tiebreaker had some very long close points but Carli succumbed at (5-10).
Lauren Gibbons had a very close hard fought match against Jevon Biffinger. Lauren lost the first set at 2-6, but Lauren was in charge of the second set. She led most of the second set with her overpowering groundstrokes and determination. At 6-6 the match was forced into a tiebreak. Lauren's opponent won the set at 4-7.
In \#6 singles, Nicole Leveille won in straight sets with her attack and volley game. "Nicole charges the net on a consistent basis and overpowers her opponents with her strong net game," Head Coach Gale Bacon commented. "Nicole has great volleys and overheads and intimidates her opponents by here mere presence at the net." She won her singles match at 6-3, 6-1
Nicole and her doubles partner Stephanie Branch were also our winning team in doubles. Nicole and Stephanie showed complete control at net as well as on the baseline. Steph is the steady one on the baseline and Nicole goes for the points at the net. They are a perfect doubles team combination. They defeated their opponents 8-6.
Endicott plays Nichols College Saturday at home. This marks the last regular season match for the team. Conference playoffs begin next week.
