BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College women's tennis team won its second straight match Thursday afternoon as the Gulls defeated Nichols College 6-3.
Once again Nicole Breting (Woonsocket, RI/Mount St. Charles) lead the way for the Gulls as she won 6-2, 6-0 at third singles and teamed up with Brianne Cogan (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga) to win 8-0 at second singles. Lori Wardner (Wrentham, MA/King Philip) won 6-2 and 6-1 at third singles while Jenna Carme (Greenfield, MA/Greenfield) won in similar fashion, 6-2 and 6-1, at fifth singles.
Stephanie Branch (Boothbay Harbor, ME/Boothbay Harbor) lost her first set, 6-2 but came back to win the second set 6-0 and took the final set 10-8 to win at sixth singles putting EC up 4-2 after singles play.
Cogan and Breting gave the Gulls the victory after winning at second doubles. Kate Fiske (Westerly, RI/Westerly) and Rachel Layton (Falmouth, ME/Falmouth) would then take third doubles 8-4 giving EC the 6-3 win.
The Gulls are 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. EC will play its final regular season match against CCC opponent Colby-Sawyer on Saturday in New London, NH. Endicott will then begin CCC Tournament play Tuesday at a location to be determined.
