Four Gulls selected as TCCC All-Conference

BEVERLY, Mass. – Four Endicott College women’s tennis players were selected to the All-TCCC Women’s Tennis Team, it was announced by The Commonwealth Coast Conference Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Tuesday afternoon. Endicott’s \#Kate Cioffi\# (Essex, Vt.) was selected All-TCCC First Team in singles and doubles play while \#Nicole Breting\# (Johnston, R.I.) received the same honors. Cioffi’s doubles partner \#Alyson Boehm\# (Lowell, Mass.) was also selected First-Team doubles while Breting’s teammate \#Lori Wardner\# (Wrentham, Mass.) received First-Team doubles honors and Second-Team singles honors. Voting for the All-TCCC team and each of the major awards was conducted among TCCC women’s tennis coaches.
\#Nicole Breting\# heads into the playoffs with a stellar career at Endicott as the senior was a four-year All-TCCC selection. Breting went 12-3 at No. 2 singles this season for the First-Team honors and teamed with \#Lori Wardner\# to go 14-1 overall in doubles play, including an 11-0 mark in conference matches. Breting was a 2008 Second-Team All-TCCC selection as well as a First-Team selection in doubles with \#Lori Wardner\#. In 2007, Breting was selected First-Team in both singles and doubles and in her freshman year, earned Honorable Mention honors in both categories.
Wardner experienced similar success in the program as she was also a four-year All-TCCC selection. The senior went 13-2 at No. 3 singles while teaming up with Breting for their successful 2009. Wardner was a 2008 All- TCCC Honorable Mention selection in singles play while teaming up with Breting for their First-Team doubles honors. In her sophomore campaign, Wardner was selected as an All-TCCC Second-Teamer while winning what would be the first of her and \#Nicole Breting\#’s three straight First-Team honors in doubles play. In 2006, \#Lori Wardner\# was selected to the Honorable Mention team in doubles play.
For the second straight season, Cioffi was selected to the All-TCCC First-Team in singles play. The sophomore went 12-2 at No. 1 singles for the Gulls including a 10-1 mark in the TCCC. The duo of Cioffi and Boehm, which received All-TCCC Second-Team honors last season, garnered First-Team honors by going 12-3 overall in doubles play. Boehm heads into the TCCC Postseason with a four year career that has seen her go 41-17 in singles play and 42-10 in doubles play.

Regis College junior Megan McCarthy was named TCCC Player of the Year, Nichols College freshman Jillian McQuiggan was chosen as TCCC Rookie of the Year, Nichols College senior Molly McGuire was named TCCC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year, Nichols College’s Paul Brower was honored as TCCC Coach of the Year, and Wentworth Institute of Technology was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award
The Blue and Green return to action on Wednesday as they host Salve Regina University in the first round of the TCCC Playoffs at 2:00 p.m. The Gulls defeated Salve Regina in their lone meeting this season, a 6-3 victory for Endicott here at the tennis courts on the South Campus.
