Women's Tennis Claims 5-4 Victory over Bentley in Spring Opener
WALTHAM, Mass. – The Endicott women’s tennis team kicked off their 2015 spring season, after claiming the programs fourth consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title in the fall, by traveling to regional foe Bentley on Sunday afternoon. Behind a match clinching victory from freshman Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) in the #5 slot the Gulls lifted to a 5-4 victory. Endicott improves to 13-2 overall on the season as they prepare for the NCAA Tournament which begins on May 8th while Bentley falls to 7-13 on the season.

Endicott will take the court next on Tuesday, April 14th as they host Springfield for a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m. The Falcons will host Simmons on Saturday, April 18th for their final match of the 2014-15 season.
In doubles play the Blue and Green took a 2-1 edge with victories in the #1 and #3 positions. In the #1 slot, seniors Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) and Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) took their counterparts, junior Ludmila Yamus (Deer Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn.) 8-2. In the #2 slot, Bergstein and sophomore Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) fell in a tough 8-6 battle with junior Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass.) and freshman Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas). To wrap up doubles play, junior Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.) and sophomore Jamie Zompa (Marlborough, Mass.) defeated sophomore Kayla Anghinetti (Seekonk, Mass.) and junior Lexie Hinrichs (Franklin, Mass.) 8-4 to take a team 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.
Singles play was a complete battle with both sides claiming three victories. In the #2 slot, Egbert defeated counterpart Gianino in a three set battle (6-4, 4-6, 6-2). Potter claimed a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Oldenburg at #4 to give Endicott four wins on the day. In the #1 slot Yamus defeated Heacox in a three set battle (6-2, 5-7, 6-2) while Petrini took down Rhodes at #3 (6-1, 6-4) and Zompa fell to freshman Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass.) (3-6, 6-0-, 5-7) for a 4-4 score.
With the match tied, the #5 singles slot was still battling ending with Berstein clinching the victory with her 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Hinrichs.
