Women’s Tennis Continues Shutout Streak With 9-0 Defeat Of Nichols
DUDLEY, Mass. – The Endicott women’s tennis team shut out its fourth straight opponent on Tuesday evening as the Gulls earned a 9-0 conference victory over Nichols College at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

In doubles play, freshmen Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.) and Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 3 to start off the match for the Blue and Green.
Junior Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) and sophomore Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) quickly added to the lead with an 8-3 triumph at No. 1, while freshmen Margot Andreasen (Portland, Maine) and Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) went on to clinch the doubles sweep with a hard-fought, 8-6, victory over Cristina Szepanski (Windsor Locks, Conn.) and Daniela Saldarriaga (Medellin, Columbia) at the No. 2 position.
In singles action, Bergstein promptly gave Endicott a 4-0 advantage in the match at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-2 decision. Barnett then proceeded to put the victory in the books shortly thereafter for the Gulls with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 1 singles against Lauren Candia (Anaheim Hills, Calif.).
Freshman Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.), Fitzgibbons, and Rhodes all won their respective matches (No. 4, No. 3, No. 6) by only dropping a combined five games, while Andreasen earned a gritty 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) decision over Szepanski at the No. 2 position to highlight the rest of the winners for Endicott.

"This was a convincing win for our squad today," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "Our freshmen and our upperclassmen really stepped up today against a tough Nichols squad. We will be back to work tomorrow with another tough match against Colby-Sawyer at home."
