NCAA NEW ENGLAND DIII REGIONALS: Aleah MacKay Set To Make Program History On Friday (6:30 PM)
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott freshman distance runner Aleah MacKay (Bedford, N.H.) will become the first student-athlete in program history to compete at the NCAA New England Division III Regionals championship this Friday when she toes the line at MIT in the 10,000-meter run at 6:30 PM.
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott freshman distance runner Aleah MacKay (Bedford, N.H.) will become the first student-athlete in program history to compete at the NCAA New England Division III Regionals championship this Friday when she toes the line at MIT in the 10,000-meter run at 6:30 PM.
MacKay qualified for the 10,000-meter run at Tufts University on March 31 with an 11th place performance and time of 40:11.88, well ahead of the qualifying standard of 41:20.00.
Meanwhile, headed into Friday's meet, MacKay is ranked seventh overall out of 20 competitors on the 10,000-meter start list. MacKay is positioned ahead of such schools as MIT, Salve Regina, Connecticut College, Gordon, Rhode Island College, Westfield State, Coast Guard, and Bates.
The top-8 runners to finish in an event at NCAA New England Division III Regionals score points for their respective team and also earn All-New England honors.
Friday's meet will mark the second time this season that MacKay will compete in the 10,000-meter run. Besides the 10-000-meter run, MacKay has competed in the 5,000-meter run three times this year (19:09.80, Penmen Relays, 4/14/18 | 19:03.30, Sean Collier Invitational, 4/21/18 | 19:16.73, 4/28/18, CCC Championships).
