Brown, Griffith Claim USTFCCCA All-Region Honors
BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott student-athletes Tiana Brown (Nashua, N.H.) and Abby Griffith (Franklin, Mass.) have earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East Region honors.
The top-8 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-8 relay teams.
Brown collected her first career USTFCCCA All-Region award for her performance in the 60m hurdles at the New England Division III Indoor Championship on March 1.
The freshman hurdler placed 10th overall with a personal best time of 9.17 seconds.
Her finish ranked first among all freshmen in the field of 23 competitors, which featured first-year hurdlers from MIT, Wesleyan, and Trinity (Conn.).
Meanwhile, Griffith picked up her second career USTFCCCA All-Region honor in the high jump (first indoors).
Griffith accomplished the feat by clearing a school record height of 5 feet and 4.25 inches at the Crimson Open on February 13.
She broke her record in the event by three inches, notching a personal best height of 5-4.25.
The sophomore placed ninth overall (tied) out of 24 competitors, ranking higher than nine NCAA Division I student-athletes, one D2 competitor, three D3 jumpers, and one unattached athlete.
Both student-athletes ranked eighth in their respective events on the All-East Region performance lists.
