Oct. 3, 2006
BEVERLY, MA - Sara Moore (Guilford, CT/Guilford) became the all time kill leader at Endicott College as she powered the Gulls to a three game sweep of Regis College Tuesday night.
Moore set the record on the final point of the third game against the Pride. Her 21 kills and 22.5 points also set team records for kills and points in a three game match. Endicott's intent was clear from the get go as Moore's teammate continued to set for her all match long giving her an other team record as she attempted 41 kills in the three game match.
Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA/Aptos) picked up 31 assists and five digs as she was the main setter for Moore. Beth Dow added four kills while Steph Wiese (Higganum, CT/Haddam-Killingworth), Hayley Janelle (Madbury, NH/Oyster River), Lauren Mailhot (Ledyard, CT/Ledyard) and Hall all added two kills to the effort.
The win was the ninth in a row for the Gulls as they easily defeated Regis 30-6, 30-16 and 30-11 for the three game sweep. The win clinched the number one seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament for Endicott as they own the head to head tie breaker with second place Gordon College.
Following Moore's record setting performance against the Pride the Gulls took to the court to take on Salem State College. The Lady Vikings were the tenth straight team to fall to Endicott. The Gulls swept Salem State 30-6, 30-17 and 30-14 for the win.
Wiese led EC's offensive attack with eight kills, 10 aces and six digs. Casey Ward (Monroe, CT/Masuk) had a big game as she racked up two kills, 21 assists, three aces and three digs. Kim Marschner (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) also played well with five kills, four aces and seven digs.
Endicott improves to 12-8 overall and 8-0 in the CCC. The Gulls will next head to Springfield, MA for the Springfield College Invitational on Saturday. Endicott has only one CCC match left and has clinched the top seed in the conference tournament.
