Gilbert, Kennedy and McGrath Earn CCC Championship Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. - Following the team's run through the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament, Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.)Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.), and Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) swept the CCC Championship Week awards on Tuesday. Gilbert was named CCC Player of the Week while Kennedy was named Libero of the Week, and McGrath was named Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office today.

Sophomore Amanda Gilbert posted 21 kills in two 3-0 sweeps in the CCC Tournament as Endicott captured the CCC Tournament Championship. She hit at a .488 clip in the tournament and only had one error across the two matches. In the championship match he had 21 errorless attacks and 11 kills giving her a .524 average. Gilbert also contributed eight digs, three total blocks, and two assists in the postseason.

Senior Mackenzie Kennedy helped Endicott to a pair of sweeps in its two CCC Championship Tournament matches. She picked up double-digit digs in both matches, averaging 5.33 digs per set. In the semifinal against No. 4 seed Salve Regina, she had 18 digs. She then added 14 more in the championship sweep of No. 2 seed Roger Williams. Kennedy also had three assists in the tournament.

Freshman Lauren McGrath had 12 digs and five aces in her first collegiate postseason as she helped Endicott claim the CCC Tournament Championship. In the CCC Semifinal against No. 4 seed Salve Regina, McGrath contributed four digs and two aces. She followed that up with eight digs and a team-high three service aces in the championship sweep of No. 2 seed Roger Williams.


Endicott (23-7) will take on Bowdoin in the opening round of the NCAA DIII Women's Volleyball Tournament on Friday, November 15 at 5:30 PM. All matches in the regional pod will be hosted at Tufts.
