Women's Volleyball Sweeps Cross-Town Rival Gordon 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball team swept cross-town rival Gordon 3-0 on Tuesday night by set scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-16. The win improves Endicott to 15-7 overall and 6-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play, while the loss drops Gordon to 10-9 overall and 3-3 in CCC play.

Endicott was led by reigning CCC Player of the Week Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) who hit for a match-high 11 kills whille hitting .500 (11-2-18). The middle also picked up four digs, three blocks and two aces in the win. Fellow middle Nicole Winkler (Southborough, Mass.) finished hitting .333, posting five kills on nine swings while tying for the match-high with four blocks. Tying Winkler with the match-high four blocks was Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) as the senior also collected eight kills and five digs. 

Setters Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) and Danica Glover (Seal Beach, Calif.) finished with 18 and 11 assists, respectively, as the duo orchestrated the Endicott attack that hit .250 for the match, compared to .071 for the Scots.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Endicott improves to 21-15 all-time against Gordon as the Gulls have now won the last six meetings between the two programs, and 14 of the last 16.
• Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) finished with three kills on five error-free attempts, raising her average to .284 overall, and .313 in CCC play.
• Combined in the first two sets, the score was tied three times and there were two lead changes, compared to the third set that saw the score tie seven times and two lead changes.

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (15-7, 6-0 CCC) is scheduled to travel to Emerson on Thursday for a 7:00 PM start while Gordon (10-9, 3-3 CCC) will travel to Suffolk for a tri-match with Fitchburg State on Saturday.
