Gulls place high at Pilgrim Pride

HENNIKER, N.H. - The Endicott College women's and men's cross country teams were able to run great races on Saturday at the Pilgrim Pride meet held on the campus of New England College. The women's team was able to win the event while the men's team finished in a close second to the host school. The Gulls were able to have a runner place first in both events as Megan McGraw (Georgia, Vt.) and Greg Payne (North Attleboro, Mass.) led their respective fields.
For the women, McGraw was able to finish with a time of 21:12 in the 5k race which put her at the head of the field. A flock of Gulls were able to finish in places three through six which would help seal the victory for Endicott. Nicole Prokop (Montgomery, Mass.) finished third with a time of 21:27 and freshman Brittaney Plante (Nashua, N.H.) finished just :07 seconds behind her at 21:34 for the fourth place finish. Kelly Cameron (Barrington, R.I.) and Jackie Collier (Swampscott, Mass.) rounded out the strong field for the Gulls as they finished fifth and sixth respectively.
The Endicott women's team finished first overall with a point total of just 19. Colby-Sawyer and New England College finished in second and third place with Colby-Sawyer just edging past the Pilgrims 50-51.
For the men, freshman Greg Payne won his second race of the season as he finished the 5k course with a time of 27:58. Finishes eight through 11 would belong to the Gulls as Brendan Mitchell (Chelmsford, Mass.), Sam Turner (Portland, Maine), Steve Bouchard (Saratoga, N.Y.), and Michael Macisso (Portland, Maine) would all finish consecutively. Mitchell completed the course in 31:15 while Sam Turner finished :04 seconds behind him at 31:19 and the junior Bouchard just :04 seconds behind him at 31:23.
The men's team would finish second in the race a mere seven points behind the host team from New England College who had 32 points to Endicott's 39.
The Blue and Green head back to the trails on Saturday when they travel to Bristol, Rhode Island to run at Colt State Park in a meet held by Roger Williams University. The women will take off at 11:00 a.m. while the men will race at 12:00 p.m.
